Our hearts aren’t shaped exactly like the hearts given at Valentine’s Day and those taped to windows and presents. But it is time to think about how to preserve healthy hearts, and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The Heart Healthy Luncheon, with a number of local sponsors, will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Hall today (Thursday) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Admission is free, but reservations are requested by calling (308) 882-7371 by Wednesday.
The healthy lunch will feature a beef spinach noodle bowl, creamy layered fruit sensation and confetti cornbread baked by the Chase County Schools Pro Start class.
Guest speakers include Jill Fiedler of Imperial, discussing life as a young wife and mother whose husband had a cardiac event, and John Kraus of Lincare of Ogallala, speaking about sleep apnea.
In addition, those attending will be able to have their blood pressure taken and their body fat tested.
Door prizes will be given.
Chairman Cindy Arterburn said she hopes to have 125 attend the luncheon. There are still openings available.
Sponsors are Chase County Community Hospital and Clinic, Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department, Chase County Hospital Foundation and Imperial Super Foods.
