Fair will peak with weekend's events
By Russ Pankonin The Imperial Republican This year's Chase County Fair and Expo got off to a great start Friday with the roundup appreciation supper, followed by the horse show Sunday and the variety show Sunday and Monday. The remainder of the week will be full of 4-H activities, arena activities, dances, a parade and the highlight of the weekend-Friday and Saturday's grandstand shows.

The first day at Chase County Schools on Aug. 21 will be a full day, from the first bell at 8:15 a.m. to the last bell at 3:30 p.m.

Demolition of old grade school building set to start in September
Main street landmark will come down at cost of $125,000
By Jan Schultz The Imperial Republican A 1927 landmark on the main street of Imperial has only a month or two left of existence. Imperial's city council voted Monday night to accept the low bid to demolish the former elementary school building between 7th and 8th Sts. on Broadway. Regier Land Improvement of Madrid's $125,000 bid was accepted for the project, set to start the first of September.

Chase County farmers' generosity will reach to Afghanistan

But there are 11 members of the Nebraska National Guard, and an accompanying security force, leaving next month for Afghanistan whose mission is agri-business development rather than military involvement.
